Solving the Problem
Solving the Problem
1.
Scooter Parking
2.
Create a parking garage for scooters, preferably
a small multileveled lot that notifies drivers how much room is available on a certain
floor and where in the row there is a spot left. These types of parking garages
have been only manufactured for cars and placed in airports and big shopping malls
due to the intensity of traffic. This system has not been adapted for a smaller
mode of transportation but in areas where scooter/motorcycles are greatly used
they would be in demand; such as college campuses. Since these vehicles are small not much room would be
needed for them, and making a multilevel lot would allow areas that have little
space to work with guaranteed a lot of spots. The indicators of how many spots are left will
help decrease traffic and keep drivers constantly moving.
Hi Melody,
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely not something normal people in society think about because a majority drives cars; however, you mentioned that college campuses are quite the opposite. I love the idea of targeting college campuses and bringing a sort of ease to owning a scooter. I currently take the bus and am thinking of getting a scooter but the parking scares me! I am very impressed with this idea and love it.
Melody, I like your solution proposed above, I think the biggest issue though for UF and their parking situation is when the campus was built they didn't logically place enough parking to begin with. To fix this issue their going to have to knock down buildings and certain fields in order to build more parking. For example with Norman Field, they recently laid blacktop on half of the field and build a parking lot over Winter Break.
ReplyDeleteHi Melody!
ReplyDeleteAlthough I don't personally own a scooter, I believe your idea would benefit a ton of students at UF and other college campuses. I really like how you thought to notify people how many spots are left, just like they do with some parking garages. This would definitely help solve the problem many college campuses have regarding limited parking.
