Figuring out Buyer Behavior
12A Figuring out Buyer Behavior
1.
Geographical Segmentation
2.
I interviewed three students who get to the University
using three different modes of transportation. One drives, one takes the bus
and the other uses a scooter. For those that did not drive themselves to
campus, the main complaint was the reliability on a system (busses) that does
not run on time 24/7; therefore, their interest in another mode of transportation
was there, however finding parking was another dissatisfaction. For those that
drove to school the complaint was yet again finding no parking and having to
pay for a pass without getting an ensure place to park.
3.
Those that have a motor vehicle prove there is a
need in the parking industry on campus. For those that use another mode of transportation
such as the bus industry, the common thread was wanting to stray away from
using that mode of transport but are uneasy about it due to the lack of parking
available on campus. For those that cannot find parking, going to another lot is
a hassle and takes up loads of time, so waiting for someone to leave or in a
scooters case moving them around to fit yours in.
4.
The common thread throughout this search is that
the lack of parking on campus is an issue and makes student last to class,
ruins their vehicle or get tickets for the strict rules enforced for the small
areas allotted to them. This was a geographical segmentation due to the fact
that parking is needed in a certain area, such as college campuses. The need is
very evident and more space needs to be allotted to scooters/cars on campus by
taking advantage of the space and creating multilevel garages.
Hey Melody,
ReplyDeleteI did a similar segment with the demographic potential users of my service. I like how you kept your interviews clear and concise and still managed to get the information about transportation around UF that you were looking for. Luckily your geographical segmentation was easy to pin point here in Gainesville, but with such a good idea any University could probably benefit from an improvement in moving its people around. I really like your idea, good job!
Melody, I completely agree with your geographical segmentation ideology depicted above on what effects buyer behavior. Having interviewed 3 different UF students that get around campus in 3 different ways you symbolized how your idea for parking garage automated simulators that flash how many open spots are available, is much needed.
ReplyDeleteI can agree with some of the student you interviewed when it comes to transportation. I have walked to class all last year which was fine except for the fact that it would take 15 to 30 minutes depending on where I was going. I have also tried to park my car on campus for an exam and could not find a spot and ending up getting a ticket. So I finally decided to get a scooter because that was the only way I could get to campus fast and find a parking spot.
ReplyDeleteHi Melody!
ReplyDeleteI definetely agree with the students you interviewed. Sometimes I take the bus and it isn't always reliable and I also find it unfair that we pay for parking decals that don't guarentee us a spot. The lack of parking has made me late on many occasions and I have also received tickets numerous times for not following the parking rules. UF definetely needs to come up with a solution.
