Idea Napkin

11A Idea Napkin
1.     My name is Melody Ocasio and I am a second year at the University of Florida. I am a Journalism major on the Pre-Optometry track, so my schedule semester after semester is rigorous and busy. I find need for more parking due to the fact that I am on campus a majority of the day and realize the need.
2.     I am offering a multilevel garage for cars and scooter/motorcycles on campus, with a monitor on each floor indicating is a floor is full, how many spaces are left on a floor and what spaces in a row are available.
3.     I am offering this product to primarily college campuses due to the limited space they offer, and my product would be built up so if space is limited then it would be perfect.
4.     Students and Faculty already pay for decals that don’t guarantee them a space, but incorporating these multilevel garages would almost guarantee a space in different locations on campus. Students and Faculty need this, a parking spot is considered a luxury on campus.
5.     I think the garage for scooter/motorcycles would set me apart. I have never seen my idea for a smaller mode of transportation been incorporated and it is greatly needed on campuses.

In regards to the multilevel floor for cars, that is something the University of Florida already takes advantage of however the monitor system would benefit the consumer with the flow of traffic, as well as adding a couple more floors. In regards to the multilevel scooter/motorcycle garage I believe It is a product that would benefit the population that uses smaller motor vehicles for it is adaptable to the little space the University provides to them. Since they are so small, actual spots would be drawn out much like a car parking garage, however, unlike a car garage more vehicles would be able to fit on one floor of the scooter/motorcycle garage.

  1. Hey Melody,

I really like how you organized this post. I did almost the same and I think it was the best way to do it even though the excellent student submission had the questions included, I omitted as well. I really like your idea on the multilevel garage and hopefully one day we will all have enough money to utilize something like that! Great job over all.

  2. Hi Melody! I like how you organized your post. I included the questions in mine, but without them, it looks shorter and straight to the point. I really like your parking garage idea, because I really do think campus needs more parking spaces for both cars and scooters/motorcycles. The main reason why I don’t like driving my car to campus and avoid situations where I have to is because of the lack of parking on campus.

  3. Melody, this is an awesome idea -- the ability for multilevel parking garages on campus to have an automated sign that displays how many parking spots for all types of cars and scooters here on campus is a phenomenal idea. I specifically liked how organized this post was and your fluidity of it.

  4. Hey melody! Great idea we could all use this when it comes to parking on campus. I like the idea about including a monitor on each floor to let people know when the floor gets full. Its also cool to show what spots are available. I think that this would be a great idea for college campuses it would save so much time instead of driving around the parking garage several times.

  5. Hi Melody!
I really liked how concise and to the point you were when describing who you are and what you're offering. I constantly find myself struggling to find a parking spot therefore I think this is an awesome idea that would benefit most people on campus. Overall I thought you were very organized and did a great job on this assignment!
