Final Reflection
30A-Final Reflection
This course to me was a bit of a
pain all year. Since being an entrepreneur is not what I want to do directly,
it was hard for me to get motivated at times, especially when I just felt like I
kept repeating myself over and over again for each set of assignments. However,
I believe the experience that will stick with me for years to come is when we
had to state our definition of failure. I know I lose sight of my goals at
times and focus on things that are not so important, here this is my version of
failure. This is different for everyone, for everyone has a different definition
of success based on what they want to pursue in life. But when this assignment
rolled around, it allowed me to remember the bigger picture and what goals I had
set for myself. It reminded me to keep my eye on the prize and to never give up
despite organic chemistry draining the life out of me. It reminding me that it
will all be worth it one day.
Looking
back at the semester and thinking of the assignments we had to do, I can’t say it
gave me an entrepreneur type mind, but it did steer my train back on course. I
want to be practicing medicine in the years to come and maybe one day open a
family practice with my dad. I can see how some of these concepts could be
applied to my case but in reality, the markets of healthcare are ones that are quite
different as the world of medicine is changing daily. I will say though that I see
the ideas of failure and change differently, and plan to apply them for as long
as I can to my future career.
To anyone taking
this course in the future, if you want to be an entrepreneur by all means run
with it and learn some useful tools along the way. For those that don’t have
this as their primary goal yet have to take the course, don’t overlook it,
there will be some things that won’t apply to your field of work but can apply to
changing your way of life. In my case Optometry is my field of choice, so for
the sake of this course I will relate it to something I know best. This course is
like a pair of new glasses; it can help you see some things much more clearly.

Hi Melody!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that you realized even though your main goal was not to be an entrepreneur that you could still get something from this class. My philosophy with this class that you only get out what you put into it. Your mindset determines how much you gain in any experience. Totally agree with the statement about it making you see more clearly. It definitely puts your "thinking cap" on.
