I believe the next step to enhancing my product is
designing an app that syncs with the high-tech garage monitors. As my hopes are
to have numerous of these high-tech garages in an area, this app would allow
the customer to first see how many high-tech garages are in the city they are
in, the directions to each of these garages and if any have space available, without
the customer having to drive to it just to find out its full.
2.
I interviewed three people with vehicles at the
University. Two students who own scooters and one faculty member who owns a car.
·
Student Interview
Vehicle Type: Scooter
From this interview the student claimed that she liked the idea of having
a scooter garage that’s high-tech because it would make the parking scene on
campus flow so much faster. They claimed that the next step of the app was what
she believed sets my product apart.
·
Student Interview
Vehicle Type: Scooter
Student mentioned that all he wants is for there to be more parking
available. More space would also be appreciated due to the fact that his
investment is all torn up and will be hard to resell after his years at the University.
He could not think of a next step but he just wants the bare minimum of more parking.
·
Faculty Member Interview
Vehicle Type: Truck
The faculty member mentioned like all the rest that parking is a necessity
on campus. He claimed that although it seems a bit easier for faculty to find
parking, there are still downfalls to the space allotted. He finds parking
rather difficult for he owns a pickup truck, which if you know Gainesville’s
parking, it’s not meant for vehicles larger than the average car. He again did
not think of a next step but rather just wanted to have more space to park.

Growing in my market is all about timing. Garage
parking is the same almost worldwide so making a change to it at first will be difficult.
Although, once the world sees that my product is more efficient and keeping up with
the times than more and more will come join with my product. I will first launch
my companies garages and mini-garages all incorporating the high-tech aspect along
with the ‘build It yourself’ concept. Then as those have planted in numerous local
the app will be released and added on with time.
New
Market
1.
For those
that do not have a phone that is compatible with the app, I could incorporate monitors
around a city that has numerous of my garages and there they can be notified
what garage is full and where the nearest one is located. If they have forgotten
where they have parked they can even look up their license plate number and it
can tell them what garage their car is parked in.
Inside of each of these garages
there can also be a monitor on each floor allowing customers to call for a
tow-truck or someone to come and fix their car if they are having an issue with
it. This gets help for those that would more or less not have any or anyone to
turn to.
2.
These benefits would allow those who are not in
the financial means to own a nicer phone to still be a part of my product, as
well as those who do not have services such as AAA to get the help they need
when using my product. Here the company is giving back to its consumers.
3.
I interviewed two parents visiting UF for a tour
·
Father
Mentioned that my product is something
that seems to meet the need of numerous people in any situation. He stated that
most companies strive to meet the need of just one set of people or one thing
but that I seemed to have thought about just about every most common situation for
the product I am producing.
·
Mother
This interview was a lot more motherly for she loved the idea of adding a
monitor to help those out that can’t start their car so people aren’t left
stranded, especially if their phone dies. She said it’s so good to have backups
especially from a company thinking of their consumers and not just the profits
they can make off of their product.
4.
I
learned how to see things from an angle I had not thought to see things from
before. This new lens allowed me to think of even more ideas to add to my pre-existing
product, just when I thought I had run out of them. I believe incorporating this new market would just
make my product more appealing and give buyers of my product something to look
forward to when there are additions and updates to make the product better.
In
the end viewing from another market made my product have a longer future. This
new market gave new heights to my company and what it could offer to the public
and those interested in not just my product but how it can get better with time.
Melody,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading your post on your product and where it can be taken to in the future. It seems as though you have thought about your products future for quite a while now. I really enjoyed reading the part about the new market you can move into after your product has flourished into its full potential. I think your interviews in both markets are really valuable and that you should take their feedback very seriously as it will help immensely. Great post.
Hi Melody! I really like the future idea for your parking garage, incorporating an app so people will know how much parking space is available in a garage and where. In a society where people rely on their phones for a lot of things, it would definitely be useful. I also like how your outside market was one where phones aren’t part of their daily lives nearly as much. The insight from them seemed really helpful.
